This review has been long over due & the reason for that is because I didn’t realize how badly he’d damaged my teeth til recently . I always knew he did a horrible job based on the looks of my crowns & gums that never healed & looked red/swollen for the last 6 years since he gave me the crowns & now that I’m finally fixing them , i realized he has left me with long term issues. Issues that a team of 3 specialists are trying to fix and it’s a process to get me there, but even then it’s not a grantee. I hate to leave a long review but In order for me to explain how inexperienced dr Ricco is I must get into details. I had veneers in my front two teeth for 15 yrs, they were a little on the bulky side & had a tint of yellow to them so I wanted to my improve my looks since I was only 32yrs old so dr Ricco being my general dentist one day I asked him can we fix the front teeth , I wanted a natural looking teeth so he said he can give me new veneers and so he did but one of them kept popping out, no matter how careful I was with it , got to a point that I wouldn’t even bite into things, but yet I was having the chronic problem of having to go back to Ricco for him to re-cement the veneer so after almost a year of going back and fourth, multiple times from middle island to plainview I told him something else has to happen because I can’t do this anymore so here is my biggest regret in my entire life , I trusted him & let him do whatever he wanted all because I had already paid him for my veneers & my out of pocket costs was going to be 0 for any further treatments so this was his course of action : to give me crowns instead of veneers, but to give me root canal on my perfectly healthy teeth because if I didn’t get the root canals having crowns on my front teeth, I was going to risk of having discomfort when I ate/drank anything cold or hot. My thoughts on that is he wanted to charge my insurance over 2k cause he could make more money out of me since he was doing the crowns for free . Stupid , naive me I let him but the worse part is this , he shaved my own teeth down so much to the point that i look like I have baby teeth under the crowns and the problem is this , the crowns don’t have much surface to cement on. If there is not enough surface for something to get attached to, well how can it stay securely enough ? So now that I’ve finally saved up enough money to fix this issue , a team of specialist are helping me. I’m seeing a orthodontist to fix my bite which is a 9 month treatment, something Ricco should’ve told me in the first place because it was one of the reasons the veneer kept popping out but instead he kept shaving my teeth top and bottom ones. I’m seeing a Peridontist to give me crown lengthening , to fix the inflamed gums that I’m left with for the last 6 yrs and also to expose my teeth more so the future crowns have something to be cemented on instead of the peanut size teeth that I have now and finally after all this I’m getting my crowns by a prosthodontist. My prothodontist hopes after all this , I get my crowns to stay without them ever falling out again with the look I alway wanted, unfortunately they can’t grantee it because the damage by dr Ricco is extensive and if I knew all this sooner i would’ve sued him for malpractice for the cost, but more importantly for the emotional stress he has put me through . Ever since I started my treatment with dr Ricco I have nightmares that my crowns have fallen out in public. Im forever scared with his actions , his actions hunts me in my dreams and when I’m awake , I don’t ever bite into anything anymore because of the fear of crowns falling out again and exposing the ugly teeth under them that he left me with. Dr Ricco is a very nice dentist but he has no business doing cosmetic dentistry when he obviously doesn’t understand something as simple as hey maybe this persons bite is off , maybe that needs to get addressed first, instead of the easy way which was to shave my actual teeth, and giving me root canals . I’m sorry I ever let him touch my teeth .
