My husband (on chronic immunosuppressants for IBD) told Dr. Frankel about a concerning lesion in his mouth. Dr. Frankel told him it was \"nothing to worry about\" & told him to aim a laser pointer at it and sent him home. About 5 months later, when the lesion didn\'t resolve, he saw an ENT doctor, who sent him straight to the cancer center to be diagnosed w/ Stage 2 Squamous Cell Cancer! Since it wasn\'t biopsied or diagnosed when my husband reported it, the mass grew & req\'d invasive surgery for removal, including removal of all of his submandibular lymph nodes on 1 side! His oral range of motion is limited, his neck, ear, scalp and mouth are numb, & he has endured significant pain! Immunosuppressants is the 3rd leading cause of oral cancer & we trusted our dentist to have the medical knowledge to advocate for us & our health!
