How Patients Feel
NEGATIVEPatient Reviews
1This was an extremely uncomfortable experience (more so than other dentist appointments). Upon examination, I was met with statements like: "Judging by your condition, it looks like you haven't been to a dentist in over 3 years," "Maybe we need to teach you how to floss," and "Wow, you're going to need A LOT of work done, honey." I had in fact been to a dentist 8 months before, and while I may not floss as often as I should, I do know how. When I mentioned that I had seen a dentist 8 months earlier, the response I got was, "Oh, well he must not be a very good one." There is much more to the story, but I can't write it all here. Basically, the entire appointment felt like some sort of intervention as I was constantly being put on the spot (not just in terms of discussing my dental health, but when I was asked personal questions as well that seemed to have nothing to do with my teeth). It was humiliating, and I ended up leaving in tears. Dental/medical appointments can be uncomfortable sometimes, but nothing compares to how bad this one was. On a more positive note, I changed dentists the following week and my condition turned out to be much less severe than was initially reported. The new dentist was respectful and drama-free, which is how dentists should be. I don't dread appointments nowadays because I know they will be pleasant compared to the upsetting experience I had with this dentist.
