On July 27 at 3:00 pm I went to a dentist to have an upper molar extracted. The place I have been going to is in Lake County California. Mendocino Health Clinic and the doctor was Douglas Lewis DDS. Usually an Oriental Lady doctor does my dental work, and she is the last one who pulled one of my teeth. In fact she pulled the molar from the opposite side of my upper jaw last year and I didn't feel any pain and the extraction was easy as I do not have large roots or curved roots. I'm 53 years old and have had seven of my teeth extracted plus my wisdom teeth. This was quite a different experience and I feel that I have been a victim of dental malpractice and this malpractice may have been comitted to charge medi-cal extra for an un-necessary root extraction.. I got on the Internet and looked up, "tooth extractions" and found that the normal way a tooth is extracted is to wiggle the tooth back-and-forth and loosen the roots before pulling it straight out. Dr Lewis did not even ATTEMPT to loosen the tooth. He grabbed ahold of the tooth with a pair of dental pliers and pried the tooth outward and upward until I heard my jaw bone crack and then the roots snapped off. I've been searching medical journals for two days and haven't been able to find anywhere where it says this is a normal procedure. (no attempt at loosening the tooth and bending it in one direction until it snaps). The fact is that the root fell out and onto my tongue after he did this to me. His assistant was able to pick the root up from my tongue with a pair of tweezers and no extraction was needed. Because I am on social security disability and I don't have a ton of money I can't seem to find an attorney. What is this world coming to when a doctor will intentionally break off a tooth so he can collect more money? The outer portion of my upper jaw bone is cracked and I have been experiencing severe pain ever since this doctor ripped out my tooth like a caveman. There is a break in my jaw from where he bent my tooth out toward my cheek. If medi-cal was charged for a root extraction then it is clearly FRAUD as it was not necessary to extract the root....it simply fell out.
