Coast Dental

This whole "practice" is just a business scam. I moved here recently and was matched with Coast Dental through my insurance. It's nearby so I decided to give it a try. I was having some tooth sensitivity, so I booked an annual cleaning with a quick evaluation. I arrived a half hour early and waited about 50 minutes to be seen. X-rays were fine and the tech was sweet. Everything after that was absurd. The hygienist came in and poked around my gums and concluded that I had "inflammation that might lead to gingivitis." I found that weird because I've had exactly zero issues with anything in my gums and have good dental hygiene and regular cleanings. No one has ever said anything of the sort. Then a dentist CALLED IN ON A VIDEO CALL and told me it didn't look like I had cavities from my x-rays but I should purchase a special rinse and toothpaste for my inflammation. I interrupted her and said that I wanted a dentist to actually look at the tooth I came in for, and she said the "attending dentist" (what?!) could do that when he got a minute. After the this, the salesman/hygienist made me watch a 3 minute infomercial about a tray that could deliver peridontal medication because "flossing and brushing just isn't enough." Then he sat down with a "plan" that was to cost me $630 for a deep cleaning. I told him that I wasn't interested but I would like to see a dentist. At this point, my appointment had been 1.5 hours so I scheduled my afternoon work meeting because I knew I couldn't get back to work in time. The dentist came in and he was kind. He said my tooth I was worried about looked good, but I did have the beginning of decay on the other side of my mouth under a filling that was going to eventually need a crown and how about we go ahead an schedule that. He showed me the area on the x-ray, so at least he wasn't totally full of baloney, but I am not convinced I should get a crown yet since I have zero symptoms. Another tech came in with another $240 plan. I told her that I was not ready to schedule anything at the moment and was I still going to receive my cleaning that day. She said that since it was after 1pm, the staff was on lunch and I could wait until 2 for that. I asked to speak to the office manager. The office manager came in and I asked why I was being told to wait until 2 for the cleaning I had scheduled for 11:30. She said that I was down for a new patient visit, not a cleaning and it must have been a miscommunication with their scheduling department in the Philippines and that happens sometime, but it didn't matter anyway because I had to get the special cleaning and that has to be scheduled out because it takes a long time. I told her that I just wanted the basic annual cleaning that my insurance pays for and she told me that I wasn't allowed to have one. That I HAD to get the deep cleaning because that is what the dentist (WHO NEVER LOOKED IN MY MOUTH) had prescribed. She said that the hygienist could lose his license if he did a basic cleaning when a deep clean was required. That is when I left. For my $70 co-pay, I spent 2 hours for them to try to sell me $900 of things I don't need and told I wasn't allowed to have my insurance covered cleaning unless I did the $630 out of pocket treatment. Obviously, I won't be going back. This is what happens when capitalism mixes with healthcare. Someday we will learn from civilized countries and have universal health care so that doctors are not business people with for-profit companies. Until then, I guess I'll just keep flossing and hope for the best..

Dr. Affan Siddiqui, DMD

Dr. Siddiqui did a crown and was having a lot of trouble smoothing down the bump on the temp crown so he started filing on the tooth below it to keep it from hitting the temp. That was an easy way out for him that damaged my tooth and then he had the nerve to tell me he filed it because he saw a chip on it. He didn't ask my permission to file it or show me proof that it was chipped, so now it's crooked, smaller and has to be repaired. The crown he put on was causing me pain within a couple of days after he seated it only to find that it has two cracks in it so that has to be replaced after I just paid $948.00 for it. .

Dr. Jase Hackney, DMD

I would highly recommend Dr Hackney and his staff at affordable dentures Tampa. From my experience with the staff at the front desk, to the initial visit and consultation, I never had any doubt that I made an excellent decision. I realize that this is a process having the mini implants. My procedure yesterday was flawless. I was very comfortable during the procedure. I have been offered affordable dental care in which I am grateful. Dr Hackney and his staff have enabled me to smile again.

Dr. Jase Hackney, DMD

I walked in Monday after phoning this dentist at least a dozen times with no answer. I was in need of an extraction, lower right wisdom. The advertised price for a complex extraction was 155. I was informed that the cost is 275 and to receive the new patient offer of a free xray and consult I would have to return on Wednesday. The extraction took less than one minute, certainly qualified for the lowest of their two advertised prices. Instead they tried to charge me 380..... Never met Hackney..
