I had originally gone to Capistrano dental group after damaging a tooth. I met with one of the female dentists for maybe 5-6 minutes before being told I need 7 cavalries filled and 2 crowns. I was new to the area and reluctantly decided to follow the dentists recommendations. I had the work done in 3 appointment and totaled around 10k. Six months or so went by and the fresh dental work started to fail. 4 of the teeth that were just fixed fail within weeks of each other stupidly I went back to this dentist and they told me they had to be extracted and replaced with crowns. They gave me the name of a doctor and a quote for 5500 per tooth. I asked the dentist about a refund on the 10k worth of dental work that was done only 6 weeks ago. She completely turned the failures on me and that it wasn’t her craftsmanship and offered no type of refund or repair. I Reluctantly I went to the doctor she suggested to have one implant done because it was a front tooth. In the meantime I had a scheduled cleaning and at that appointment they told me I needed a deep cleaning and that it would be $200 for the cleaning and when I pressed the dentist about the cost it was all of a sudden free and covered by the insurance. Then at my first appointment with the implant doctor I noticed the dentist from Capistrano dental group was in fact working at A Kids Dentist the same practice at where I was sent to have my implant at and that it wasn’t a practice she worked with but a practice she was employed by. This was all very shady so I requested my records to find a new dentist and when I called asking for my records I got the run around for 4 months telling me every time I called that they would send them the next day and never sent them so I kept calling every three days for weeks and finally I was told that I could have half of my records and if I wanted the second half I had to pay them for my own records. This dumb founded me and to this day I have not received any records or any receipts for any work that was performed despite asking every time for a detailed breakdown of the treatment plan and I always got the same bs that they would email them to me and never received anything. Upon getting another dentist who is spectacular I requested that they request my records in hopes that the new dentist could get them and even he couldn’t get them to send a copy of my records. I have been meeting with an attorney to get them to.
I just love Dr. Mary, she’s kind and very informative. She’s also very caring.
Dr. Shubin was thorough and answered all my questions and he was friendly. Office manager was very good: explained everything and friendly. The office was clean and attractive and he had what appeared to be state-of-the-art equipment..
I had a bad experience. They are dishonest in their billing practices--tried to bill for work they didn't do, Also, the work was not good. I had to go to another dentist a few weeks later to fix what they did. I would not recommend going here..
