This is a man who doesn't see you as the symptoms that led you to seek help. He doesn't see a chemistry set (your brain and body) on which he can practice and play with pharmaceuticals and psychotropic drugs. He sees a patient who is suffering and he works to understand every angle of his patients' "condition." He is not necessarily warm and fuzzy. He will shoot you straight (which is a style that I actually really like). But he is kind, compassionate, understanding, supportive, and has the knowledge and skills to get a much more comprehensive view of his patients' psyche - a practice necessary with his philosophy about mental health treatment. Dr. Sobel believes that the fact that mere relief has become the goal in mental health treatment is unacceptable. He wants full remission for his patients. He truly wants it for YOU.
