Best Dentist In City - Dr. Kalpana Kaveti, DMD

Dr. Rick Vu, DDS

First and last time going to Dr Vu. I made an appointment because I had a filling fall out. Dr Vu came in looked in my mouth for 2-seconds and said "I'm not touching it". He told me I needed either an extraction or a root canal but he won't do it. What?! He gave me a referral for another dentist and sent me on my way. I'm not sure what shocks me more, the sour demeanor of the dentist or the fact the "dentist" doesn't do extractions or root canals. I'm shocked by the whole experience..

I came here on December 23rd (I've been a patient here for 7 years now) for 3 fillings. I noticed that they were busier than normal but thought "Hey, it's before the end of the year, I get it." However, the service I received was neglectful and terrible enough for me to never return again. I was taken back and given a room, and the Dentist came in to see me. I had to have 3 different shots in my mouth for the 3 fillings, which okay, whatever. It hurt like hell, which was abnormal to me, because normally it is a small pinch, but these were extremely painful pinches. I sat there for an hour before I was even "worked on". Normally, you sit there for 15 - 20 minutes so that your mouth can be numbed up pretty well. I was then told that they were "backed up" and that's why they were "running behind". Dentist worked on my mouth, (I have extremely bad dental phobia) (I also have TMJ), and it took him probably a total of 30 minutes to drill out the cavities, so that they could place in the fillings. I was choked by water and had a major panic attack and had to "take a breather" because of how bad the water pooled up into my throat. They then finished the drilling, and the dentist doesn't even let me know that someone-else would be working on my fillings. I'm not even introduced to any names, just hands in my mouth and irritated workers. The lady doing the fillings starts talking bad about other people who were there that day and saying that some people were "just so impatient". This lady took an hour to do my fillings. I had my mouth open for about 2 hours total for 3 fillings. It should NOT have taken this long to perform this kind of work. I had tears running down my face due to my TMJ and how sore my jaws were afterwards. I cried the entire way home due to the pain. The pain kept me up for several nights and I got very little sleep. I knew something wasn't right when I couldn't eat or sleep and started having suicidal thoughts because the pain was literally UNBEARABLE. Tylenol, Ibuprofein, and Motrin were NOT working. I call the dentist office back and they tell me they will get me in at 4 the next day. I get there at 3:50 PM and am not seen until 5:15!!!! Their excuse was yet again "We are just so backed up and busy". No, at this point I don't care how "backed up and busy" you are, when you have a patient that had a terrible experience with you and is in tremendous amounts of pain and needs to be taken care of, they should be priority! If you are so backed up and busy, then stop taking so many patients and caring about how much money you will receive in a day, and start taking quality care of them! I get seen and they shave my fillings down, because they weren't properly shaved down to begin with. Then when I asked the actual dentist what was wrong and why I was in so much pain he seemed annoyed with me and told me to "rotate Motrin and Tylenol" and if that didn't work to call back and let them know so that they can call a prescription in because it could be an infection. Several days pass and I am still in pain.. so I call back today, only to hear that the dentist isn't in and that they will call him at his other location to see what to do. They then call me back and ask me what I am allergic to (WHEN MY RECORDS SPECIFICALLY SAY WHAT I AM ALLERGIC TO), and when I tell them what I am allergic to their response was "Oh, well that's what they were going to prescribe you, let me call the dentist back again and by the way you may need to be re-seen because this could be a possible root canal." Excuse me? The second time around when they shaved my fillings down they took X-Rays and said that the filling looked fine and everything looked fine. That it was a "tiny cavity" and it was "no big deal". So now it's a possible root canal? I'm furious. This place should look at my records and KNOW that I am allergic to codeine, and KNOW that I have major Dental Phobia, and also KNOW that I have TMJ. TAKE TIME WITH YOUR PATIENTS AND KNOW WHO THEY ARE! I will NEVER be back again. GOOD RIDDANCE. I came here on December 23rd (I've been a patient here for 7 years now) for 3 fillings. This is great office. They may be busy, but you do get quality work and care. Dr. Henderson ensures the job is done right, even it if takes longer. I haven't had an issue from fillings to getting 4 wisdom teeth extracted. I highly recommend this office..

While the staff was great, and the office is very nice to be in, I was not very happy with the way my visit was billed. I was supposed to receive a cleaning and an X-ray for $99. Instead I had one xray, and had a problem tooth looked at. At that time I was told they wouldn't do the cleaning because the tooth should be addressed first. So for someone to poke at my hurt tooth and write me a referral to a specialist I paid $99. When I called to ask what that $99 covered- I was told I actually received a discount. For the services I got it would be about $150. I'm sorry, but I already knew my prior root canal was giving me an issue and I left with no answers to my problems. When I called the office they referred me to, they quoted me something outrageous for an out of pocket patient. I just called a dentist in Hendersonville who offers the same tooth evaluation for $15. Now how can one office say it will be $150 and one say $15? Seems a little absurd.
