My daughter has been going here for quite some time. She'll be 8 in a few months and has been fearful of the dentist since she was 3. We were REFERRED here because of this issue, so they were well aware. We've never had a problem, but this day in particular was a rough start. We had a long weekend of her baby sister being in the hospital and going to bed late. The appt took longer than usual, she came out in tears. Dr Neal proceeded to tell me she was "downright combative," they were able to successfully clean her teeth but were unsuccessful at obtaining the X-rays. I explained it was a rough weekend, apologized for her behavior and I quickly rushed her to the car and scolded her for acting out. I was livid with her. I could tell something was bothering her the entire afternoon. A few hours later she proceeded to tell me that the hygienist as well as another woman told her, while attempting to take the X-rays, "I can have the mean lady come do it and she'll shove it in your mouth." My daughter said she was "afraid of choking" and tried to tell them this. She was in tears explaining that she "tried to be brave" but was clearly very uncomfortable. She said she even asked for me to come back there and they refused. Now I know this would maybe not help the situation, but whatever happened back there (as they encourage parents to not go back with the kids) threatening a 7 year old that is CLEARLY fearful is not acceptable in any sort of situation. I called and spoke to Dr Neal, he apologized and in a sense blamed my daughter for "needing to get over it" as she's "almost 8." And perhaps this was "their tactic" to maybe scare her a bit into cooperating. Yes. Exactly. A THREAT. Totally disregarding that perhaps she was maybe just having a bad day due to an extremely stressful weekend. He DID agree it was unacceptable and said he's speak to the staff. He was also quick to hang up with me, as he "had patients waiting in the chair." Completely insensitive move, especially since my first reaction was to return to the office and cause a scene, as most parents would. I also have yet to hear back from anyone in that office. I was sure to notify the dentist who referred me, as well as MANY FAMILY MEMBERS who are in the dental field. They were mortified as well. I'm never one to claim my kid does no wrong. I'm a pretty understanding person. But you threaten my kid, especially in an environment where she's supposed to feel safe, thats where I draw the line. If your child is the perfect patient and has no fears, maybe this place is for you. If not, AVOID AVOID AVOID..
Awful. Went back twice and my dentures are still not fitting me right. Terrible work. Will no go back there. Also overcharges..
The entire staff makes you feel like family. Dr. Brian explains everything before he does it & is very gentle..
I've been seeing Dr. Gambla for 15 years. It took me years to find a great dentist. Now I live near the Wisconsin/Illinois border but I still drive down to the south side. He once gave me a root canal and it was painless and even FUN! He explained every tool and I walked out with a big smile. Emergency toothache in the middle of the night. I was able to get a hold of him immediately and he saw me first thing in the morning. Great staff too. They've been there as long as I have and are the nicest people. All my friends and family go to him as well. Can't say enough..
