My treatment started in 2008 and lasted 8 years until I had the braces removes. I'm now 49 years old. When I first went into a consultation with Dr. Domeyer he said my treatment would last 1.5 to 2 years tops. He was unable to get my alignment straight. He was the only ortho I consulted with who decided against the jaw cracking surgery before the braces were put on. Of course, I thought that sounded like the best option, so I went for it. Yay, no surgery involved I thought. Well, here I am with crooked teeth and my top and lower teeth collide when I chew. It's awful. My current dentist told me I may have a case again Dr. Domeyer because I have periodontal disease and braces should not even be put on a patient with unhealthy gums in the first place. I'm traumatized by the entire ordeal..
