First of all, notice that I am not hiding who I am. My name is evident, and I have no intention of hiding who I am by anonymously posting here. I am willing to leave my name on this post for a few reasons, not the least of which is it will allow the dentist to verify what I say against his records he has for me. I went in for a cleaning in latter part of 2012, and a lady took pretty good care of me. I think her name was Melissa. I liked her a lot. She was very personable, and she made me feel good about myself as it relates to my teeth. It had been several years since I had last been to a dentist, and I was scared what that would reveal. But she said that my teeth looked good in general. She then told me that I would need several fillings. Then the dentist came in. He looked at this and that. He looked at the reports, and he confirmed what the lady had said. He said that I would need several fillings. (I believe that the number was eight) I was confounded. I knew that it had been many years since I had been to the dentist, and I figured that it did not bode well for me, but i was sure that I didn't have that many cavities. So I asked the dentist, "Does that mean that I have that many cavities?" He didn't say "yes" or "no". He just repeated, "You are going to need (several) fillings." I then thought it was odd that he didn't answer my question directly, so I asked differently. I asked, "Are you saying that (eight) of my teeth have holes or cavities in them that are needing to be filled?" Again, he refused to answer me directly. He said much the same that he had said previously. I was really bothered by the fact that he wouldn't answer me straight. But I really liked and trusted (Melissa?), and I knew that it had been a long time since my last appointment. So I went to the front desk and ran through what it would cost with my current insurance. I then signed up for the year's enrollment period for the best dental plan which was considerably more expensive than the FREE one that i was already on. I figured it would save me money when I came in next year to get my mouth reconstructed. The following spring, I called the dentist to set up an appointment. I had a few days that I had to take off from work, and I told the office that I wanted to get in on one of those days off. I also advised that I had a toothache that I expected would go away when the dentist worked his magic. They couldn't get me in at all. So I called another dentist. I got an appointment. I went in and told him what was ailing me, and I gave him the treatment plan from Prince. He told me that I have no cavities. I reiterated what I had been told, and I told him that I had a toothache. Surely he was mistaken! I had at least 8 fillings that I needed according to Prince. The dentist confirmed with another person in his office that I had no cavities and I had no need for fillings. Beware, people. jbna
