I want to thank Dr. Koester for providing me a GREAT night's sleep. I have sleep apnea and tried using a CPAP for several years but I was never comfortable using the machine. I had seen advertisements on TV and read about an appliance that was developed by a dentist that you place in the mouth for providing an alternative to using a CPAP machine. I inquired about the appliance with Dr. Koester at my routine check-up and he described how the appliance works. The appliance is a two-part mouthpiece consisting of upper and lower parts similar to a mouthguard used by athletes. The lower part pushes against the upper part which gently moves the lower jaw forward, which opens the airway in the throat. I have been wearing the appliance every night for the past couple of months and I LOVE it. I am finally able to get a full nights sleep without using the CPAP and I feel GREAT. I want to also thank the ladies at Dr. Koester's office, who worked with my primary care physician's office to get the paperwork for the medical insurance completed.
