I went to Dr. Finley after having not visited a dentist for a few years for a cavity on the side of my tooth, in the back of my mouth. I was very apprehensive about all the work that would be done (and frankly, the cost of such), but I had seen that he used advanced technology for filling cavities, so I thought he would be the best choice in Monroe. After having two consultations with him, I was still pretty much left in the dark about what he was actually going to do with my tooth. He said he was definitely going to require a crown, but he wouldn't know until he started drilling the tooth (while I was sedated), so it could require a root canal -- $600 for the crown and possibly $1000+ for a root canal. He also said I had other cavities that would need to be filled. As I was talking with the receptionist on my way out about how I would be billed after all these procedures, I was informed Finley had tacked on a $600 charge for whitening (which I hadn't asked for, but the receptionist did her best to make it sound absolutely necessary, though my teeth didn't need $600 worth of whitening). Before proceeding, I wanted a second opinion. Some people at work suggested Dr. King Scott in West Monroe. He did a simple filling on the tooth, totaling $100! I would later get the other, minor cavities worked on. He didn't try to sneak any extra fees or unnecessary work on, and said that my tooth wasn't nearly so compromised that it required a root canal. My teeth are doing wonderfully. In short, Dr. Finley may be the best in town for a mouth of fake teeth or if you hate money and can't seem to rid yourself of it quickly enough, but I would not recommend him as a regular dentist. His office seems a little obsessed with "that movie star smile!" and a bit neglectful of the simple principles of health and hygiene.
