1My experience with Dr. Bruce started in 2014 and the first few visits were okay with the standard xrays and cleaning. The doctor incidicated that I needed to replace a few crowns and her staff gave me the breakdown of my cost and the cost that my insurance company agreed to pay. My portion was $1300 for one crown because I would have been able to have the old crown removed and the new crown the same day. I told the doctor that I had to think about it. After going the receptist to make the next appointment, she told me that I could choose an alternate route but it would result in me making a second trip and my cost was only $382+. I agreed and the appointment was made. When I returned, the doctor removed my crown and took a mold for a new crown.HOWEVER, she returned to me to say that she noticed that I opted to go the cheaper route (basically) and told me that she had already prepared the new crown and she would give me her discounted rate, indicating that I would owe an additional $300. I was indeed shocked and upset but she did not make an attempt to put the new crown in my month until I agreed to the increase. Once the visit was over and my new crown was in, the reception again did some calculations and said I will would owe $200 instead of $300. I will not be paying the additional $200 to Dr. Bruce because I believe she is a ripoff. No crown should cost over $1500! I found another dentist who replaced another crown for me and my cost was only $350 as my insurance covered the balance. This new dentist said that crown should not be as high as Dr.Bruce stated.
