3On Tuesday, October 11, 2022 I had an appointment with Dentist – Dr. Thomas Young in Killeen, Texas. My appointment was rescheduled twice due to the dentist having strep throat and again when a piece of office equipment broke down. Initially, I was told I had 2 small fillings and the cost would be $155 per tooth ($310 total). My appointment time was 11:00 and I arrived at 11:00 and paid my $310 at that time. The dentist didn’t come back to start the process until after noon. He filled both teeth and I went to the front desk to checkout and the receptionist informed me that my cost was increased by $450 (bringing my total to $760) because one filling needed more dental composite than usual. How much composite did you use to justify $450 in additional charges??? My first thought was: this is why you take x-rays to see what is required! This way there are no surprises. I’m 64 years old and have never had to pay more at the dentist than what’s discussed upfront. I was charged $760 for two small fillings. Make sure you know what the cost is upfront before you go to this dentist because you may get a BIG SURPRISE at check-out!!!
