I had an appointment yesturday. I walked in the office and recieved no greeting from the receptionist, she was "chatting" on the phone and turned her body away from me when I walked towards her. I stood there staring at her for almost 5 min then went and set my purse down and came back. I never recieved any eye contact or a "just a min". I leaned in the window while she finished the conversation on the phone and then helped someone from the back that came to her desk after me. After about another 5 min she finally looked at me and said "oh, can I help you". I was already irritated but left it alone because I hate confrontation. I told her my name and she said "someone will be with you in a second". I sat down and she yelled out her little window at me (without looking at me) "can I make your next 6 month appointment". Due to previous wait times and mixed up phone calls/bills that were not ours I had already decided this was my last visit; so my response was "no, thanks". About 2 seconds later she said "ok, what time works best for you". I was getting really irritated because now she is not listening to me; so I responded "I said, I do not want another appointment". Over the next 35 min that I waited for my cleaning two other patients came in (and they went to the desk and said thier appointment time, same as mine) and went back before me. I understand that different patients see different people but no one said "someone will get you shortly" or "she is almost ready for you". I decided to leave. The receptionist called me on my cell as I was driving away. I told her everything that I have typed here, calling her out on her lack of social skills. She said nothing. NOTHING!!! She didn't apologize, try to convince me to come back or explain her lack of courtesy. I have been an assistant for 7 years and I know what it takes, smiling and nodding or saying "I will be with you in a second" takes no effort and just common sense. In these economic times that receptionist should value her job and that dentist should value his clients, obviously neither do. I would recommend trying some where else where the take care of their PAYING customers. I have gone to this dentist for 3 years and my husband for 26 years. Both of my inlaws have also for 26 years and they have recently received crappy service. They are going downhill and don't seem to care.
