Where's the professionalism at this "fort"? Only after enlistment did we later discover that since Ft. Leonard Wood (FLW) is out in the middle of nowhere, the drill-sergeants attitude toward recruits was: 'what happens in FLW-stays in FLW'. This meant that the drill-instructors would abuse, beat and mistreat the recruits for any reason under the pretext of 'authorized training' or 'maintaining discipline'. This excessive physical and verbal abuse went above and beyond any limits currently set forth in TRADOC regulations prohibiting HAZING in recruit training. (FYI: AR 600-20 ACP 4-20.) Also known as Ft. Lost in the Woods there are plenty of remote areas where the REMF drill-instructors can apply their own special form of 'discipline' on defenseless trainees. (There's a reason why bayonets were not regularly issued to recruits. Also, it was very revealing to see how the mad-dog attitudes of the drill-sergeants would completely change when the recruits were locked and loaded on the firing range. The FLW drill-sergeants were red-neck bigots (and so were the local civilian employees) who had appeared comical at first,("Don't be scratching yo A$$ in MY formation, boy! Head and eyes to the front, stupid!"),but we soon found that they were tyrants of their own little world who really did NOT care if they set us up for failure. FLW has the highest rate of recruits discharged during basic training, so your military career CAN begin and end at this god-forsaken place. Also, if you sustain an injury during basic then you will be kept back to be recycled and lose your selected MOS.The Senior Drill Instructor (SDI) arbitrarily placed the entire training company on 'Total Control' for the amusement of the platoon-sergeants just so the recruits could get 'smoked'. Instead of fostering teamwork and building morale they were more intent on turning the recruits against each other. Any recruit suspected of having challenged the precious authority of the drill-sergeants was singled-out and targeted with retaliation and reprisal for the remainder of the BCT cycle. Humiliation was a standard training method. In front of the barracks during company roll call, our REMF-SDI insulted the recruits by mocking their surnames, which only served to demonstrate his own prejudices against minorities. Their abuse of authority was part of the whole rotten system and not just putting on an 'ACT'. Any recruit subjected to mistreatment can file a complaint through the chain of command (Article138) since our First-Sergeant was usually MIA because he was already a short-timer.(The NCO's cover for each other anyway so proceed with your grievance to the Company or Battalion Commanding Officer levels.) The drill-instructors lectured the trainees that we were subject to the UCMJ but acted as if they themselves were NOT accountable to anyone. They rewarded any sense of patriotism that we thought we had by treating us like expendable juvenile delinquents specifically sent there for punishment and brain-washing.They had led us by the nose through a dark alley to a dead-end. This is NOT what the recruits had signed-up for, because they were being lied to since they first enlisted. Army Recruiting and AFEES sergeants are really just used car salesmen in uniform anyway. They had told us anything to convince us to enlist in order to make their quota. IF the NCO training cadre have nothing to hide, then why do they confiscate your camera-phone at the Reception Station? There really should be alot more videos of BCT on YOUTUBE then there are now in order to expose this place for what it really is. So make sure to record and upload videos of your favorite psycho drill-sergeant when you get a chance.FLW in the OZARKS can be described as a combination of the two movies 'Deliverance' and 'Full Metal Jacket', (LOL). FLW, Missouri (Misery) is the worst Post in the USA and the best way to avoid being sent there is simple-DO NOTJOIN the ARMY! People, go to college or trade school instead to learn and develop skills that will directly transfer to the civilian job market. FTA..

Where's the professionalism? Why put yourself at the mercy of some sadistic drill-sergeant brown-round CLOWN who found a "home" in the army just because they gave him some stripes and ribbons? FLW has the highest rate of recruits discharged during basic training, so your military career CAN begin and end at this god-forsaken place. Instead of building teamwork and fostering morale they were more interested in turning the recruits against each other. Our REMF-Senior Drill Instructor (SDI) had arbitrarily placed the entire training company on Total Control just so the recruits could get "smoked".Humiliation and degradation were standard training methods.Their idea of introducing us to army values and traditions was to issue us a lawnmower and slingblade in order to maintain the grounds of this poison-ivy hellhole. They used the recruits as free day-laborers.The drill-instructors abuse of authority was a fundamental part of the whole rotten system. They rewarded any sense of patriotism that we thought we had by treating us like expendable juvenile delinquents specifically sent there for punishment and brainwashing. They had led us by the nose through a dark alley to a dead end. This is NOT what the recruits had signed-up for, because they were being misled and lied to since they first enlisted. Also, if you sustain an injury during BCT then you will be kept back to be recycled and lose your selected MOS. You can request to speak with the First-Sergeant, but ours was usually MIA because he was already a short-timer.(They keep you in the dark as much as possible, but we did hear rumors that they were adding saltpeter to the mess-hall food, lol.)What was obvious were the disreputable businesses, outside the main gate, that were supposed to be OFF-LIMITS. What they DO NOT tell you is that you can file a complaint against your superiors through the chain of command (Article 138, UCMJ) to the Company and Battalion Commander Officer levels, since the NCO's cover for each other anyway.(These charges will remain on their permanent record.) If they have nothing to hide then why do they confiscate your camera-phone at the reception station? So tell that annoying recruiting-sergeant to KI$$ your college bound A$$ instead! .
