Went in for a 5 minute evaluation/consult with Dr Ashrafi. X-Rays were brought from APPT from primary dentist. No examination was necessary or done. The doctor looked at my X-Ray, peaked in my mouth and said, "should be an easy surgery, let's get you out front and scheduled". Spent about 15mins at the front desk discussing insurance and to see if they would cover as medically necessary. After discussing insurance, the front desk said they would submit to united health to see if it was covered. About 2 Months passed before I had to call the office to see what the story was with my insurance. Not long after speaking with them again I received a bill in the mail for $85 for "new patient evaluation, 5 minutes" My problem is NOT with the bill...my problem is why did they wait 2 months to mail me a bill? If there was a cost or charge for the service, it should have been collected on the service date. Or I should have been made aware that there was a charge for a 5 minute talk with the doctor and that it wouldn't be done as a professional courtesy like MOST other medical facilities. Megan in billing staff was nothing short of condescending and rude when I contacted the office biling department to dispute. When I asked to speak to a supervisor or an office manager, I was told there was none, and that there was no one I could speak too that was in a higher position than Megan. I then asked who the owner of the practice was and was told Dr John Marshall. Megan proceeded to tell me Dr Marshall would not get on the phone regarding medical billing disputes, but at this point it is so much more than that. Nothing short of pissed off and disgusted with this practice currently. Would NOT recommend this office to friends or family and will absolutely go out of my way to never have to visit this practice again.
