I am very particular about dentists.  This is probably because my grandpa was a dentist and did all of our family's dental work growing up.  He was a really great dentist (one of my first jobs was working in his office and clearly his patients were more than satisfied with his work), but I'm sure as his grandkids he was maybe extra gentle with us.  This was great because I've never had a fear about dentists as he was always so gentle and fantastic with our teeth.  When I eventually needed braces, he hand-picked one of the best orthodontists in the state to do the work.  So for the early part of my life, I (and my teeth) were basically spoiled.  Once he retired I started having to see other dentists and it really sunk in how there are dentists out there that aren't as skilled.  Maybe they just don't take the time, or are even a bit rough.  Yesterday I went to see Dr. Lemee for a general exam and cleaning and can't rate his work highly enough.  Yes, this was a simple procedure, but he did a fantastic job.  He took his time and was very thorough.  I got the best clean I've had on my teeth in years.  Also, I'm pregnant right now, which makes your gums more sensitive and prone to bleeding, so a gentle touch is really helpful.  He didn't irritate my mouth a single time and never cause me to bleed even though he was thoroughly scaling my teeth.  He also explained different things to me about my teeth, some stuff I had never heard before.  He was very friendly and I appreciated how it didn't seem like he was rushed to run to his next patient.  I felt like my teeth had all of his attention and when I left I was giddy about the results (I love a good professional cleaning).  Everyone else in the office was also great.  I enjoyed chatting with Dr. Lamarr at the front who handled a hiccup with my insurance personally while my teeth were getting cleaned.  This was a problem that was really due to my own oversight and ignorance about dealing with insurance, but she cleared it up for me upon her own initiative and also wrote down extra info she got from the insurance company about my plan to help me in the future.  Talk about going above and beyond!  And she was totally nice and didn't make me feel dumb for not understanding my own insurance, which is maybe warranted at my age, tbh.  lol  The assistant/hygienist I visited with was also very pleasant and helpful, although I don't recall her name.We found out afterward that my primary dental insurance actually wouldn't cover my services at this office (my secondary did), but when my enrollment comes around again for next year I will definitely upgrade my plan to be able to come back.  I will probably also switch my family over to their office as well, given the convenient location to our home.  After seeing some other dentists who have done shoddy cleanings or straight up cut my mouth (!!?!?!) during procedures since moving to the city, I am so relieved to have finally found a dentist to help keep my teeth healthy during our stay in this area!
