5The staff is very nice. However, after recently moving to the area, I called with an urgent need and was told "a new patient appointment can be setup for 2 weeks from now". I went immediately to NM Med and got in. I came back to First Choice for the New Patient appt, and was not impressed. The issues on my intake sheet were not addressed. No followup done on maintenance meds that the doctor would not represcibe until she had my records. Still haven't heard on those meds. It is a good thing I have some remaining scripts. Today, I called with a possible case of strep in my 16 year old son who had never been to their clinic. Again I was told, 'Let's get him a new patient appointment in 2 weeks'. They do not seem to know what Urgent Care means, neither of my issues could wait 2 weeks. NM Medical in Edgewood (despite equally low reviews) got me in both times within hours. They understood the immediate need. Having said that, if you relocate from a major metropolis, you may not get the same level of service that you may have enjoyed elsewhere. Both clinics have a no frills, 'meat and potato' kind of atmosphere. Service is efficient, but not Elite. Between the two, I prefer New Mexico Medical because I didn't feel 'stacked in a queue' and the lobby felt cleaner (First Choice may have a new office by the time this is read). However, (at NM Med) I did witness one medical assitant degrade a client OPENLY for being more than 15 min late. Very unprofessional.
