Dr. O\'connor is very thorough. He went over everything with me! I have horrible anxiety and him and his wonderful staff put me at ease. He makes going to the dentist a pleasant experience. Goes above and beyond EVERY TIME

My dental appointment was as pleasant as one can possibly be, and I definitely plan to return to Dr. Patel for my dental care in the future. This was my first visit, and I was impressed with everyone from the ladies at the front desk to the dental hygienist to Dr. Patel herself. Everyone was professional, courteous, and friendly. Dr. Patel and the dental hygienist both exhibited great bedside manner, and they were very easy to talk to. I felt comfortable asking them questions, and their answers were clear and pragmatic. I was particularly pleased that, unlike some dentists I've gone to in the past, no one tried to talk me into any expensive, unnecessary procedures. They simply provided information for me to consider to make my own decisions about optional care in the future. Finally, another plus is that the Rosslyn location is very convenient to Metro (note: you can enter through 1100 Wilson Blvd, which is a little closer to the metro than the official address of 1000 Wilson). A+ overall.

My mouth has never hurt so much after a cleaning. First, the doctor spent just a few minutes counting my teeth. He found out my wisdom teeth are removed. I didn't need to pay for that info. He then stood up, said "do you floss every day?" I hesitated, he said "sometimes?," I nodded, and he walked out. It was the most unhelpful exchange I've ever had with a dentist. Then the hygienist's cleaning- my mouth was attacked with floss. I wrote on my form that my gums bleed, but that was evidently no cause for mercy. I had to hold the little hose that sucks water myself, because there's no equipment to do so, and there's no chair-side sink- I got to rinse only at the end, mouthwash in from one cup, out into another. The hygienist was also the receptionist. Before the appointment she took my card with her gloves on, and I can only hope they weren't the same gloves with which she flossed my teeth. Dr. Vaughan is a cheerful man, but I won't be going back.

My only issue with this practice was that when I had prophylactic treatment (cleaning) , the polishing was done first, and then the work with the dental picks, etc. I didn't recall my previous dental practice doing this. I was given an explanation when I asked, but am not totally convinced this is best practice!
