I was there and it is a horrible place. The food is garbage. The medical care is garbage. You're always locked down. Never get to go outside to rec. I learned my lesson. Some people deserve to be there no questions asked. But, there are people who have made stupid mistakes and the great commonwealth of va seen that it deserved prison time. Real stupid stuff!.
My first trip to GCC was ok. My friend was a little disappointed because I was late getting there but that was due in part to the two hour wait I had. I hated those small children's tables they use to keep people honest. I don't have anything to hide. there are several hoops that visitors jump though just to visit someone we care about. I agree that the treatment of the offenders can be inhumane. but it's not just offenders. inclement weather will affect the visitor too. you cannot have any protective gear such as umbrellas. I can't say who deserves what for their crime but I do know that that what you do in life has a turn around effect that everyone will pay or be paid for what they do bad or good. .
The inmates that are housed there are grown adults but have to be treated like children because they act like children. Take your eyes off them for one second and before you know it they've taken everything from you and everyone else. The officers who work there all deserve raises, they are all respectful, courteous, and polite. If anyone experiences anything different it's probably because they deserved it .
