How Patients Feel

7She abandoned me in the chair while doing a crown after I explained that I continued to have pain from the previous visit when she seemed frustrated pulling extremely hard as I felt the tooth breaking and my muscles becoming exhausted as I struggled to comply when asked to continue holding my mouth open. I explained that after the pain medication ran out, I continued to have pain in my TMJ joint. Her immediate reply was to deny that my ongoing pain was caused by anything she did, blaming it on \"clenching.\" I had no pain prior to her tooth extractions. She accused ME of causing the pain, claiming that it is from clenching my teeth. She then said that she felt that we no longer had a mutually supportive relationship and she cancelled the procedure, even leaving the sutures in my mouth. I saw a dental surgeon and TMJ specialist afterwards (who of course confirmed that pulling on one side affects the TMJ joint on the other side) for the ongoing TMJ pain.
