Best Dentist In City - Dr. Kalpana Kaveti, DMD

High Desert Oral Surgery and Implant Center

I really regret not listening to my sister who came to this office years ago telling me it's an awful office. The beginning went great, the front office lady was wonderful, the consultation appointment with Dr. Wasson, and before and after I went under to get the actual procedure done was also great. The aftercare was beyond brutal. I got my 3 of my wisdom teeth taken out and was prescribed hydrocodone and advil. I was in excruciating pain on day 2 and my face was completely swollen up to the point opening my jaw was difficult. I called the office explaining the pain and I had eaten soup, she told me I needed to eat something other than soup and to get up and move around and take my hydrocodone every 5 hours instead of 6 hours so that it didn't wear off and to call back if i was still having issues. A few hours pass by, my pain scale went from a 9 to a 10, even after following the useless directions. the same lady answered my call when I called back, explaining I ate rice and okra, I moved around, and took my hydrocodone 5 hours on the dot after my last dose and it had been a 2 hours since I took it. She started giving me attitude saying I was doing this to myself and that it's normal to be feeling this pain and if I simply ate and moved around I wouldn't be in so much pain. Ma'am. Did you not hear me explain that I followed your useless directions? She made me feel more stressed out and feel worse. I explained to her that I have stomach problems and i felt extremely nauseous from the pain that eating and moving was really a task for me but I wanted to make sure I did everything I was recommended. She kept telling me the office couldn't do anything and that this was normal. I had pulled an all nighter because I couldn't sleep from how much pain I was in and I told her this. She repeated herself again saying to eat. hello? Did you not hear me tell you that I ate? so I asked for a callback from Dr. Wasson. I hoped my doctor would be able to help me, but I was indeed wrong. Dr. Wasson asked me and I quote "so what is it that you are looking for?" in reality I was looking for something stronger to make the pain a bit more bearable to where I wasn't sobbing in bed, where I could eat, and sleep and stop crying. The answer I gave to his question was telling him what pain med I had taken before that's worked for me before which was gabapentin when i was 12 -- 8 years ago. I asked him to give me something to help with the pain. He said he was going to prescribe me gabapentin and send it in to my pharmacy once we got off the phone, he sent a day and a half later btw. This was my first time taking a controlled substance, how am I suppose to know what I want for my pain except for the fact I want it to stop hurting or bearable. It was a really dumb question and offensive. Especially being a healthcare worker myself. I updated my sister who has a doctorate in pharmacy she informed me gabapentin is a nerve blocker/seizure med and was really confused why i'd be getting that prescribed for my extractions. Like getting a payout of 2000 dollars for a surgery isn't enough to exchange kindness and compassion for me while i'm in unbearable pain he had the nerve to give me attitude. If I could give 0 stars I would. I've never felt my health be so neglected by a doctors office until I came to this place because oral surgery isn't stressful enough the staff have to add to it. Right? I went to my dentist after this and she gave me a recommendations which helped. My post op appointment I didn't get scans or x-rays done just told he has no idea why i'm in so much pain. He said my surgery healing looked great and was confused why I was hurting so much and to call back if my mouth was still in pain. My dentist will not be referring here anymore btw, as according to her dental assistant I am their 3rd patient to be in this condition from this office anyways... she prescribed me meds to help with the pain and a mouth wash and after about 2 weeks of my surgery I finally was able to bear the hurt and be without any opioids, tylenol, or advil.I am still in pain though. Opening my mouth hurts and dont get me started on yawning. At least it's not as awful as when I first got the surgery but I really don't feel like my mouth is going to be the same after this. Also my left side is still a bit swollen. To top it I found out my father metabolizes hydrocodone very fast that it's ineffective. The office couldn't even bother to try a different med glad my dentist did though as she was able to contact my father and ask if she could share his medical info with me about that to explain why the hydrocodone didn't work. In summary, if you want to have a stressful and unbearable surgery where you're invalidated and just seen as a paycheck, and the office can't acknowledge every patient is different this is the place I highly recommend for that. Other wise you're better off going literally anywhere else but here..
