I went in for a root canal on a brand new zerconium crown that I had just gotten a week prior. Dr. Swicord performed the procedure, and two days later my crown broke! I’m a graduate student, my dental insurance only covers 50% of crown services, and I cannot pay the other 50% out-of-pocket, which I told the office about. For 3 months after my crown broke the dental office delayed my crown replacement while I submitted grievances to my dental insurance and graduate school so that they could waive or cover my portion. I told the dental office that, given this is an iatrogenic complication, they should not expect 100% compensation for the new crown, that I don’t know how much graduate school would be willing to cover, and that primarily it may just be 50% coverage from insurance. Through verbal agreement at the front desk, Cindy the office manager said that they would accept whatever graduate school was willing to cover. When graduate school also refused to cover dental services, Cindy at the office denied any verbal agreement and said that I should speak with Dr. Swicord directly as he would be the one to make that decision. I know Dr. Swicord already gets updates from Cindy about this, that I will just be kept waiting in the lobby while he works on multiple patients simultaneously (he was working on multiple other patients while doing my root canal, too). So, basically I got my crown broken and I have been waiting for 3 months while the office played cat-and-mouse with me to get more money over a mistake that they made. DON’T go to that office, and especially not Dr. Swicord, he has a very heavy hand and will probably break your tooth while working, but he won’t take responsibility and have it replaced until you pay him for it.
