Best Dentist In City - Dr. Kalpana Kaveti, DMD

Mission Family Dental

I highly recommend this dental office. I moved to SLO recently and I needed a teeth check-up. I was looking for a dentist that speaks Spanish (My first language) so I can have good communication and I found this office. The staff is nice and knows how to communicate with Hispanic patients. Every time I had an appointment, the doctor was very friendly and made me feel my teeth were in good hands. The hygienist was also very nice and gentle during my teeth cleaning..

I had a serious cavity that was causing me a lot of pain. I know because of the covid-19 pandemic there are no many doctors currently taking patients. However, a friend of mine told me Dr. Zevallos was taking emergency patients. When I went for my appointment they took my temperature, and both the doctor and the assistant were wearing protective year. Not only did they made me feel super safe that they are taking their precautions during these times, but the doctor was quick and did an awesome job with my issue. I highly recommend Dr. Zevallos, he's a caring professional with several years of experience..

Dr. Jon Hollister, DDS

Dr Hollister is great very informative and kind. The reception staff on the other hand is terrible when asking for clarification she got very loud and kept saying they were specialist and they know more than dentist, pretty sure your a receptionist not a dentist. Anyway dentist great reception terrible would not recommend..

Dr. Ghassan Aro, DDS

I had issue with a tooth that needed a crown also. I was able to get an appointment quickly and was surprised by Dr. Aro. He is conservative with dental work so instead of performing a full root canal he went in and performed a pulp cap for the crown. He guaranteed that if I had any discomfort or pain he would go in and perform the root canal without charging for another crown. The pulp cap worked, I saved money, and kept a live tooth all in a painless experience..

I would not recommend this dentist. I had a dental crown put in during the month of August 2015. I had much differculties after the procedure. Marisa, who is friendly but I suggest she have further training. On one occasion she removes my temporary crown, ex-rays my mouth then ask if I had swallowed my permanent crown which was still on the counter. Pain still present and after $1,300.00 I was informed I actually needed a root canal. I opt for tooth extraction of the permanent crown..

SLO Peak Dentistry and Implant Center - Dr. Jerry Yu, DDS

My dental cleaning with Sheri was cancelled the day before. I had them put me on a quick call list for any last minute cancellations with Sheri. On Monday Kamie confirmed both by call and by text that I would be seen with Sheri. Imagine my shock when I get there and was placed with a different hygienist. It was so unprofessional and rude to pass me off to someone different and not even do me the courtesy of notifying me. I have a previous trauma from working with male medical staff and was extremely uncomfortable with this male hygienist. At first I didn’t want to be seen but then felt obligated to stay because 1. I needed my teeth cleaned and didn’t know the next time I would be seen 2. Didn’t want any further delays to affect my healthcare/billing timeline 3. Had driven all the way out from Nipomo. So I said “fuck it” and begrudgingly agreed to just go through with it. I was tense, uncomfortable and on edge the entire time. Afterward my hygienist made my 6 month follow up with Sheri- who I was supposed to see originally. When I went to check out I asked Michelle, the office manager, to note in my file that I don’t want to be passed off to a different hygienist. She refused to do that, ignored my request, and asked me for my email so that she could email me my x-rays. Totally bizarre! I said she could use the email that they have on file for me and AGAIN repeated my request to have my notes updated to reflect my request. She didn’t move but instead told me in a very condescending tone to lower my voice. I stated that I wasn’t yelling and wanted my file noted. It was at that point that she began interrupting me! I then stated that I would like to speak with Kamie. Michelle told me that Kamie was busy and wouldn’t speak with me. Then I asked to speak with a manager. Surprise, surprise, it’s Michelle. The unbelievably rude woman I had the unfortunate luck to interface with. I said that I didn’t want to speak with her since she was being so rude and unhelpful. It was at that point that Michelle got up from her desk, angrily pointed to the office behind her, and ordered me to “go in there”. I told her that I’d follow her in. She refused to go in the office! What a completely bizarre power trip this shrewd woman decided to embark on! Then Kamie appeared in the hallway. Very audibly Michelle says to Kamie, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME, “It’s okay Kamie, we’re dismissing this patient. Don’t worry about it.” Excuse me?! Since when do dental offices: 1. Screw up on scheduling, 2. Neglect to inform the patient, 3. Refuse to update patient notes and then 4. Threaten to dismiss them when there’s an issue? Is this how they handle all their issues with their patients? MICHELLE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HERSELF. SLO Peak dentistry should be ashamed of the way that Michelle responded. She refused to help me, quickly escalated the issue, and then repeatedly and openly threatened to dismiss me as a patient! She is rude, negligent, unprofessional and nasty! Her sad power trip, hostility, and unwillingness to help was shocking. I’ve been a patient there for years and never had an issue before. Michelle sucks and so does their scheduling!.
