Aspen Dental

I am very pleased with the Aspen Dental team that I go to. They helped me get my dentures by Crhistmas 2013 which was my goal and now they just keep helping me get through any situation that I have whether there or on the phone. I want to let everyone know that they are great and helped set me up with a payment plan because I am on a fixed income. Everyone there knows their job very, very well and all the people on the team are friendly and know what to do to help a person. I really like going there or talking to them on the phone..

If you are expecting a typical, ho-hum, five star review, you are out of luck. I have been using an upper denture that I got 20 years ago, when my upper teeth were pulled. I never had a lower denture and decided to go into Chicago to the university of Illinois school of dentistry to get a complete set and save some money. I got a set of dentures that I had to install with the shoe horn and a hammer. $800 for bleeding gums and dentures I couldn’t use. I put my old uppers back in and intended to chew with my tongue for the rest of my life. At least, I wouldn’t starve. My wife kept insisting that I try another place and I resisted. Easy for her, she has teeth. This denture dilemma went on for years until one day she announced that I had an appointment with Aspen Dental and not to forget it. I looked on the calendar. Sure enough, I had an appointment. Not remembering whether I given in or not, I decided to go ahead with it. I showed up at the Peru, Illinois office. I didn’t wait long before I was led in to have a full mouth x-ray. The technician was cheery and friendly and x-rayed my mouth to make sure I didn’t have any teeth that would interfere with a denture. Yup, no teeth. Next, I saw Patty, the Treatment Plan Coordinator. She was in charge of coordinating how I was going to pay for the dentures. She, also, was cheery and friendly. If I had a job taking people’s money all day, I might be provoked to be friendly myself. But, Patty did it in a very friendly way and before I knew it, I had a Care Credit card which covered all costs and was interest-free for 18 months. ( If I paid off the total, of course.) How’s that for friendly? I was next wisked in to have impressions made. Bre, The Impression Maker, happily stuffed handfuls of pink group in my mouth and said, “Bite down”. I was hardly done spitting pieces of plastic out of my mouth when she brought out a card with teeth on it for me to pick a color. This is when I clinched. I didn’t want to look like an old man with dentures. Maybe, that was the real reason I had postponed getting them, well, that and the pain. I told Bre how I disliked seeing old people with their perfect teeth, like little white tombstones all lined up pointing to their demise. Pearly whites to the Pearly Gates. Ugh! I wanted teeth that looked lived in: nasty dark crooked teeth that have made it through the smoking, the drinking, and the coffee. Do not be misled, this was pure vanity. “No problem,” said Bre cheerily, “I’ll get the person who will actually be making your denture and you can tell her what you want”. A minute later, she returned with The Tooth Fairy ( although I didn’t know it at the time ). This was Katie the Tooth Maker. I explained to her what I had been discussing with Bre and her face lit up. It was like these two had been planning some bazaar dental party and I was the guest of honor. Who wants to be the guest of honor at a dental party? That’s like being the guest of honor at a cannibal dinner. Katie said she understood what I wanted and the next visit, she had a mock-up in wax with the teeth looking just as I had envisioned them. Amazing. Although, they looked good in wax, I knew the next hurdle would be the killer: getting a denture with these teeth to fit. This was the part I dreaded. The day I was to pick up the finished product, I packed a bottle of Walgreens Ora Relief sore throat spray and a tube of Maximum Strength Orajel. I was girded for pain. Bre brought in THE dentures. I eyed them there on the tray. “Here we go,” I thought and popped them in. Just like that. They fit like they were made for me. I was astonished. They didn’t hurt. In the mirror MY teeth looked like they had in my 40s. Katie came in to see her work framed in my mouth. “Oh wow,” she blurted, “they look like real teeth!” There was a moment there that I thought we were headed for a group hug, but thankfully we all stayed professional. At home that night, I chewed my first Dill pickle in 20 years. It was a damn good pickle. Katie, you are not a technician. You are an artist in teeth: a regular Tooth Fairy. Do I recommend Aspen Dental? You bet! (Or, you can spend the rest of your life chewing with your tongue.).

They were wonderful, best dentist experience I have ever had. My denture was ready inless than a week and fit perfectly. It was so much better than the denture I received from a different dentist 3 years ago. Highly recommend,.
