Best Dentist In City - Dr. Kalpana Kaveti, DMD

Dr. Lior Furman

I met Dr. Furman at Dr. Gurpreet Kaur's practice in Elizabeth, NJ. Neither Dr. Kaur nor informed me that Dr. Furman was essentially "freelancing" there. I assumed, reasonably, that he would see me through all results of the treatment. Dr. Furman explained in detail that both temporary and permanent dentures were absolutely necessary, but that insurance 99 percent of the time would pay for only one or the other, and that each set cost $5,000. Medicaid & UH agreed to pay only for one set. I told Dr. Furman that obviously I needed the permanents more. He insisted that both were indispensable because otherwise my mouth and tissues would not heal properly and lose all shape without the temps. I am 65 years old and live on $556.80 per month social security retirement, and told him so right from the start. In desperation, I started a GoFundMe but collected very little and didn't know what to do. I told Dr. Furman to please resubmit the claim for both sets to United Healthcare/Medicaid. A few days later, Dr. Furman--and Dr. Kaur's secretary-- informed me that UH had "approved" two sets and that he could proceed with paying the lab for "temps" and extract my remaining upper teeth, and that above all, I would not "go home without teeth" because the temps would be installed and stay there for no longer than eight weeks, after which time he told me they would no longer fit. Because he had told me UH had now approved two sets, I let Dr. Furman follow through. He extracted my remaining eight teeth (six of them front uppers), and installed the temp, which looked good. A week later, on June 22nd 2022 I went for my follow-up with Dr. Furman, and was told he had "permanently left the practice". Another dentist, Dr. Tawil, was there, which I found very peculiar, but he adjusted the dentures a bit, so that they were more comfortable. When I returned in a week, without asking my permission or explaining what he wanted to do, Dr. Tawil put in an irremovable "hard reline," which destroyed both the look and fit of the dentures. I called Dr. Kaur the next morning in hysterics when I saw the monster in the mirror (second photo). Dr. Kaur's secretary told me that Dr. Tawil had suddenly gone on a "two-month vacation" and that I couldn't get another appointment until September. She then mentioned that Dr. Furman was "coming back in October," a month beyond the wearable life of the temporary dentures Dr. Furman had explained to me. In panic and horror I Googled Dr. Furman, found his main location in NYC, and was told very rudely by his secretary that she "couldn't pass any message" from me to him because he was not personally responsible for my treatment and did not take Medicaid at his NYC office. She said I had to settle it with Dr. Kaur. There is lots more to this horrible story, but here's the gist. I called UH and was shocked to find out that 1) although they had "approved" two sets of dentures, they had never "guaranteed" payment for the permanent ones. I hadn't the slightest idea that obtaining payment from UH was a two-tiered process. 2) They would not pay for acceptable permanent dentures unless a) I returned the existing set to Dr. Kaur and b) she returned the fee to UH. When I tried to do so at her office, she told me she could not return the fee because it had. been paid to Dr. Furman already. Hmmm. So according to his secretary, he was "no longer responsible" although he was the one to receive the fee from UH; but according to Dr. Kaur, she could neither take back the dentures nor return the fee to UH because the fee was now in Dr. Furman's hands exclusively. I was also dumbfounded to learn from UH afterwards that they had paid him only $1800, not the $5000 fee per set of dentures he had told me about. I had believed that UH and Medicaid were paying him and/or Dr. Kaur a total of $10,000. The bottom dentures fall right out of my mouth, but they are unwearable anyway because they give me an underbite that looks hideous. I wouldn't be seen dead in them..

Dr. Richard Sufficool, DMD

How this doctor still has a job astounds me. He was incredibly rude when attempting to ask questions and was trying to rush the extraction I had scheduled. I decided not to go along with it after he chucked the dentist report at my father, and he proceeded to push us out of the office. As we're telling the staff what happened, he tells us to get our last words in and get out. Definitely not the way to be treating a customer you're meeting for only the second time..

Dr. Andrea Hayeck, DDS

Dr. Hayeck is the best dentist I have ever been to. With unsurpassed knowledge, she guides her patients through any dental procedure with a congenial manner,a thorough communication and for me, the ever important gentle caring touch. I love my smile and it all because of her. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else and I certainly do not mind the fifteen minute ride from Westfield to Linden to receive such excellent care. But find that out for yourself and make an appointment neighbors!.

Linden Dental Group

I've had experiences with both Doctors and had a very comfortable pain free experience. Dr.Michael S. Malka did a fantastic job with removing my wisdom teeth and Dr.Judah E. Malka is a magician with needles, I didn't feel a thing. These doctors care about their patients and their comfort. I plan on staying with this office for life..
