We took our daughter for her first dentist appointment, and, by no fault of the hygienist, she got scared. However, we got her calmed down, and ready to try again and the dentist refused to see her, then handed us a referral slip to a pediatric dental group. Apparently its "better for the child" to put them under anesthesia and knock them out. Not only that, but the dentist didn't even have the courtesy to discuss this outside of the room, out of our child's earshot. Our child has enough problems with new experiences, let alone having a dentist tell us RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR CHILD that they didnt "want to ruin her experience." It is TOTALLY unprofessional to let a child dictate service based on the child saying they dont want to see the dentist. I'm not going back, not even for myself. I called and cancelled my next appointment as soon as we left. The best part? We can't take our daughter to the pediatric denistist because they don't accept our insurance. I'll take my family to a clinic that won't let a couple of tears get in the way of care..
