My family and I ADORE Dr. Contreras. He is kind, gentle and understanding. A true professional. The sort of dentist an family wants and needs. I'm always nervous about going to the dentist, but Dr. Contreras is a calming presence. He really is THAT good. HOWEVER, I can't say that for one of his staff members, DEBBIE who's exactly the opposite. She is harsh, abrasive, meanspirited and has caused us to consider a hard decision whether we can remain with Dr. Contreras. She creates an unwelcoming, unfriendly environment in person and especially over the phone . She is better qualified for a collection agency than your friendly family dentistry office. This is what you will get when you call the office. Compassionate and understanding, she is not. Get by her, and you are in for excellent dental care. But getting by her is the problem - she formidably stands in the way of a great experience. If not for her, Dr. Contreras is FIVE STARS all the way! but Debbie is part of the experience..

this dentist is very expensive and his secretary with the hoarse voice is rude and when you ask about why,and how the bill came out so hi they won't break it down for you they'll just say that it could've been more without ins. but is'nt that why we have insurance so the bill isn't overwelming.And most of the time they send you to specialists because they don't do the work there so you end up spending more money somewhere else,never again will i go to these voltures....
I was a new patient and when I called for an appointment, I was told the soonest he could see me for an exam and cleaning was in 6 months. Because I was in pain, they did get me in sooner. I was dissatisfied with the treatment from this dentist and his staff. I felt like he rushed through the procedure. As soon as he was done he rushed out the door to go to his next patient, and didn't give me time for questions. After he recommended a course of treatment, I went for a second opinion. This dentist missed several serious problems. I also learned that I am not a good candidate for the very expensive type of bridge that he recommended. While his staff are all polite, I was given incorrect information on my insurance coverage and co-pays. His equipment may be modern and fancy, but being able to watch satellite tv while I'm in the chair is not as important as having a thorough exam and being given correct information. .
They did a great job on my crown but 2 months later....they still seem to have issues submitting a correct bill to my insurance company. So, unless you like the frustration of calling them repeatedly, I suggest finding another dentist..
I have been going to Dr. Pattons office for over three years now and I love the service I get at this office. The office staff is welcoming, the front office is warm and the hygienist is the BEST!!!! As long as I live in San Diego I will continue to go to this office!!!.
