Best Dentist In City - Dr. Kalpana Kaveti, DMD

Advanced Dental Care, Santa Maria, Ca

I'd like to 1st start by stating that in "MY" opinion, the Front Office Staff as a whole were pleasant & very helpful from the time that I phoned to schedule my appointment which was mid-last week. The most appealing thing to "ME" was the fact that the office had IMMEDIATE openings (same day) booking, even for "MY" coverage, which happens to be Cen-Cal. My wallet was stolen several weeks back, so I didn't have my physical Insurance Card, nor my state issued ID Card. I was told on the phone that that I would need to provide "AT LEAST," something w/my photo & my name on it, & that my insurance could most likely be verified via my SSN. Although my tooth is broken in 1/2 & the nerve is exposed, causing me excruciating pain, I elected to schedule 1st thing this morning to allow myself time to try to obtain a "COPY" of my state issued insurance card from my insurance carrier. When I got to my 10:30 appointment, (approximately 50+ miles from my home), I was greeted by polite staff, given new patient paperwork to complete, & things were pleasant right on up to the point where the receptionist informed me that her Office Manager would not accept the copy of my ID & therefore I couldn't be seen. Now, I understand that there are policies & procedures @ nearly every establishment & I am certain that they are in place for a reason. "MY" issue is that the Office Mgr. was sitting in a small office w/a huge glass window & refusing to come out & speak to me. Three (3) separate receptionists went in & tried to explain my situation (the stolen wallet) until she finally emerged & in a VERY loud & unpleasant (near screaming) voice told me to "Go to the DMV, pay for, & obtain your ID, come back & then you can be seen." The receptionist then scheduled another appointment for 2:30pm TODAY. Not only did I do just that, I also went & got a temporary copy of my insurance card as well. When I presented back to the office at 2:30, the Office Mgr. (Angela Kim), looked over my temporary insurance card & the DMV printout & in that SAME loud & unpleasant voice informed me that these items were NOT sufficient & that I could still not be seen. She then turned, walked into her office & slammed her office door. The rest of the staff began to apologize, including a Dental Assistant who had been observing from the side. The assistant came out into the lobby & spoke w/me, asked for my DMV print out & stated that in the past that had been sufficient for an extraction, which is all I needed to have done. She went & talked to the Office Mgr. & came back to say the same thing I had already been told. I walked outside to call my Insurance Provider, when one of the receptionists came outside because she too had called my insurance provider & had them on the phone so that I could explain my predicament. The end result from my insurance provider is that ultimately it was at the discretion of the OFFICE MANAGER whether they could see me in that office today. I passed the phone to the Office Mgr. so that the Insurance Provider could repeat what they had just told me. By the time this charade got this far, I was literally standing in the middle of the lobby in tears. When the Office Mgr. hung up the phone she screamed in her loudest OUTSIDE playground voice, directly in my face: 'WE WILL NOT SEE YOU TODAY, GOODBYE!" "MY" experience w/today's visit to this office was not a pleasant one to say the least. I believe the office STAFF is trained well & very professional minus the unprofessional Manager, Ms. Angela Kim. Hopefully she does not treat other people in this fashion, or perhaps she does & that is why the office is the ONLY office that I was able to find within 50 miles of my residence that accepts Cen-Cal that had immediate, even same-day openings for new patients. What happened to Moral & Ethics portion of this lady's training?.
