Dr. Matheny uses improperly trained assistants rather than licensed hygienists. His staff refused to wear a mask during COVID-19 while performing invasive procedures such as inserting bite wing films and x-ray machine at close range of 24 inches from patient’s open mouth. No screening for current or recent infection. Did not follow pandemic protocols per CDC or ADA. Formal complaint filed with WV Board of Dental Examiners..
My usual dentist found a very small cavity 6 months ago. He planned to check it again when I came back in six month but transferred to another city. I was given Dr. Metheny. Dr. Metheny broke my tooth. Instead of having a small cavity, I had a major costly repair. I had to spit out pieces of my tooth in the hand wash basis in the room because the pieces were too big for the suction to pick up. He never explained nor apologized for his mistake. I will never go back to him again..

Was at the Fairmont location today....for everyone to understand I have a major fear of dentist, because of this fear I now have periodontal disease. The staff made me feel so comfortable and put my mind at ease and walked and talked me through every step. I am leaving here with less anxiety than I came in with..
i was happy with our visit on the 7/19/16 at 9 am. the dr was very kind. my husband is in extreme pain he has 7 teeth that cant be saved that are infected. The dr. sent him home w/ 40 antibiotics and 10 pain pills. She sd if he need more pain meds to call in. We called in on 7/21/16 to get more pain meds because he would be out this evening. The office staff was rude to us and wanted to argue about what he should have left. I felt as though we was being treated like junkies. Dr. Thompson and his staff were absolutely amazing. I highly recommend..
