After being a client for almost 10 years, and paying far more than I should have due to the fact that very few insurances are accepted, my husband and I have been treated like common criminals for not paying a bill. After my husband had extensive dental work (which was bad by the way! He was in pain for 2 months after the crowns were done and it messed his bite up - they just kept telling him to wait and see if it got better), we found out that our insurance waiting period hadn't been met (even though we were assured by the office that it was covered). This was November 2018. In January, I spoke to the office who told me, in addition to the thousands of dollars we had already paid, we owed over $1,000 more because insurance wouldn't cover it. I told them I wanted to wait on my bill from them so I could review everything and call the insurance company before paying. Let me say I have NEVER had a late bill payment or been in collections. I never heard anything so thought maybe they had figured it out and we didn't owe after all. Just last month I received a phone call from collections. For 9 months they had been sending our bill TO THE WRONG ADDRESS...this is a dentist we had seen for years! Every time we visited, we would get asked our address, and I had received statements from them at our current address before. HOW CAN I PAY A BILL, or even discuss a bill, when I don't know about it??? So now they will not work with us or try to find a mutually satisfying resolution. I have now sent a dispute about the bill to the collections company and believe me, will NEVER go back to this office and will make sure to tell all my friends not to go either. I am EXTREMELY disappointed that after being a loyal client for so many years, including times where we paid out of pocket when we could have gone elsewhere to a dentist that accepted our insurance, that we have been treated this way..
