Professional Statement

trong>Dr. John S. Blalock, DMD, EDS was born and raised in Augusta and is proud to call the CSRA his home. He was born at St Joseph’s Hospital and attended Curtis Baptist Elementary School, Westminster Day School, Langford Jr. High and graduated High School from Richmond Academy.

Following High School he graduated from Lees-McRae College in the mountains of Western North Carolina. He returned home and graduated from the Medical College of Georgia with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1997. Following a time in private practice, Dr. Blalock joined the faculty at the Dental College of Georgia where he was promoted to full professor and served for 17 years instructing dental students and contributing to the mission of The Dental College and The Medical College of Georgia. He is very proud of his students; many of which are practicing and providing dental care today. While on the faculty of the Dental College he went on to earn his Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership (EdS.) at Augusta State University. This experience gave him an even a greater appreciation of our professional educators and the work and service they provide to our youth.

Dr. Blalock has been involved in numerous research projects and has many publications in several well-respected dental journals. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=John+Blalock He also served on several committees in the dental profession and was a member of the committee that was responsible for the content of a clinical board examination required for dentists to obtain licensure. He also serves as a Board Examiner administering the clinical dental board all over the country.

Dr. Blalock left the dental college in 2017 to pursue Private Practice. He is excited to serve the growing and thriving community in which he grew up. Dr. Blalock takes great pride in the care he and his staff provides for their patients. Dr. Blalock takes time to provide dental treatment to his patients based on their individual needs. He believes in providing Comprehensive Dental Care concentrating on predictability and longevity.

As mentioned, he takes a comprehensive approach and provides services to address gingival or gum health, restorative needs including tooth colored fillings, crowns and bridges, partials and complete dentures. He has a network of strong specialists he utilizes when needed.

Dr. Blalock provides Implant restorative dentistry, aesthetic dentistry; including tooth whitening, direct and indirect veneers, crown and bridge work and replacement of missing teeth to improve aesthetics and function. His ultimate goal is comfort and function with an emphasis on aesthetics and longevity by providing on-going maintenance and recalls.

He loves spending time with his 2 boys, John (14) and William (12). They enjoy traveling to the mountains and the beach and also enjoy golf, skiing, hunting, fishing, boating and being outdoors. Most of all, John enjoys quality time with his family.

He has been attending First Baptist Church of North Augusta and works daily on his emotional and spiritual health by placing his faith and trust in God and His will.
